AMD earlier this month has launched it’s new Ryzen 5000 desktop CPU. As mentioned in that launch yesterday they introduced their new Desktop level GPU. The new AMD Radeon RX 6000 series GPU this lineup has RX 6800 XT, 6800, and 6900XT. AMD says these GPU’s perform 50% more than the previous version while keeping the power consumption the same.

Specs and features:

These three new GPUs are designed based on their new RDNA2 technology. This technology offers twice the performance keeping the power usage low. These are designed with the same 7nm as the previous version of RDNA. Another improvement was in the cache which they call “infinity cache” which is 128MB of the cache. This reduces the latency of GPU processing. The RDNA 2 is the same architecture that is present in the next-gen consoles like the Sony PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The GPU also supports DirectX 12 ultimate API which was previously available to Nvidia. The GPU when in use with the Ryzen 3000 series and the AMD motherboard offers AMD Smart Access Memory. Ray-tracing is something Nvidia was talking about a lot in their launch of the RTX 3000 series is also available in the RX 6000 series by AMD. AMD uses Direct X raytracing on each compute unit to get ten times faster performance than the software-based raytracing. The new GPU also supports AMD FidelityFx which helps developers to add shadows and high-quality light effects. Overclocking of the GPU is now done with just a single click in the software of AMD.
