Battlegrounds Mobile India fixes data sharing issue with China servers

Isn't it a good news?

Battlegrounds Mobile India transferring data to Chinese servers

After the allegations that Battlegrounds Mobile India is sending data to servers in China, it seems Krafton fixed it. Krafton released a small update to the game to fix the issue. It immediately boots up and asks to restart the game. After the update, folks at IGN tested the game again with a packet sniffer. And while playing the entire two matches, Battlegrounds Mobile India never shared any data or pinged servers in China.

Previously, IGN India reported that various players have claimed that their data is being sent to servers in China. However, IGN also investigated the matter by installing a data packet sniffer app used during the BGMI game. It found that the data sent and received by the Battlegrounds Mobile India routed from China Mobile Communications servers in Beijing, the Tencent-run Proxima Beta in Hong Kong, and Microsoft Azure servers located in the US, Mumbai, and Moscow.

Krafton made a statement after the fix

After fixing the issue the South Korean company responded to the recent data-sharing issue and came up with a statement. The official statement reads as follows:

KRAFTON, Inc., the creator of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA and the owner of the blockbuster IP –  PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, is working to fully comply with the Indian laws and regulations as we lead up to the official launch of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA.

KRAFTON is implementing the industry’s toughest standards for data security and is working to overcome any shortcomings throughout the Early Access testing period, for the official launch of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA. In the meantime, KRAFTON is fully aware of the recent concerns over data handling in regards to BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA Early Access test.

Battlegrounds India Privacy Policy about International Data Transfers

The privacy policy of Battlegrounds Mobile India claims that “personal information will be stored and processed on servers located in India and Singapore.” But Krafton also mentioned that it “may transfer your data to other countries and/or regions to operate the game service and/or to meet legal requirements.”

And Krafton clearly states that they will ensure the information receives the same level of protection as if it remained in India.
