Cyberpunk 2077 developers receive death threats from fans after the third delay

Cyberpunk 2077 is the most awaited game of 2020. The fan base before its release is huge. It gains most of the eyes towards it with their way of getting the reach prior to release. And they never thought that will turn out to be a toxic fanaticism until the developers receive death threats.

The game is open for pre-purchase, but the release kept on delayed. Recently, it delayed for the third time from mid-November to December 10. For a game like Cyberpunk 2077 which is being developed for nine different platforms simultaneously, this is not entirely even. No one expected this delay, it is not usual.

Cyberpunk received Gold which can be printed on their discs or passes. This often tells there will be no delay to release. But receiving Gold doesn’t mean the development is completed. Developers might take the last delay to complete the last-minute tweaks and patches. Maybe that’s the case here.

Cyberpunk 2077 developers received death threats

Andrzej Zawadzki, developer at CD Projekt RED has taken Twitter to reveal how he and his fellow developers at CDPR received death threatening messages from fans.

Developers are already working overtime to bring the best. Although Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed like no other game, delays might happen due to various reasons. And the major one could be the developers are working remotely. Anyway, regardless of how many delays, the level of explicit comments and death threats are completely intolerable.

Andrzej Zawadzki revealed how he was threatened, in a separate tweet.

Cyberpunk 2077 developers are not the only ones to receive death threats

Developers of Spider-Man Remastered received death treats after modifying the peter parker’s face.

Bryan Intihar revealed on Twitter how fans threatened him.

Also, Laura Bailey the voice actress of Last of Us 2 is threatened for her play in the game.

The gaming communities are filled with a lot of negativeness and few are responsible for spreading it. This kind of social behavior and toxic fandom has to stop.
