dbrand is a well-known company that makes skins and cases for mobile devices. They launched Dark Plates, the own version of Sony PS5 faceplates from dbrand. These are the side plates with a matte black finish for the PlayStation 5. They’re going so far as to dare Sony to sue them for it.
Sony is huge, so the Playstation, no doubt. As we know, PS5 comes with no color options. However, dbrand brought a solution for it. But the thing is, last year, a company first called PlateStation5, then CustomizeMyPlates made a similar product and ended up being sued by Sony for selling an unofficial accessory. That was a kind of tragedy; the company had to cancel all the orders and process the refund. And now again, dbrand’s Drak Plates order page reads “Go ahead, sue us” at the top.
Not only that, dbrand’s Dark plates features a texture moderately inspired by the icons microtexture found on the PS5 and its controller. The company describes it as “a familiar-but-legally-distinct apocalyptic spin on the classic PlayStation button shapes.”
The matte black side plates cost $49. They’ve already sold the first three waves of allocations. The company is currently taking orders for the fourth wave that’ll go out for shipping in May. The Dark Plates for the digital-only PS5 hasn’t yet been put on sale.
dbrand is also selling middle skins to cover the center front panel, in case you want to get rid of that glossy finish. You can select one and include it with the Dark Plates for $11.95 extra, or buy separately for $20.
