Niantic has updated all the events lined up for August 2021 in Pokemon GO. Pokemon GO August 2021 will have a colossal kickoff with Ultra Unlock events. Niantic is bringing back the Dialga and Palkia to Pokémon GO after GO Fest, along with some mysterious Pokémon Raids later this month. Not only that, a lot of featured Pokémon, Researches and other bonuses are waiting. So for you to get things ready, here’s everything you need to know.
August Research Breakthrough encounters
For the entire month from August 1 to September 1, you will encounter Chimecho in Research Breakthrough encounters. As a bonus, you’ll also receive twice the XP when you achieve a Research Breakthrough as a part of the Season of Discovery.
Weekly Bundles
Every Monday throughout August, a one-time purchase bundle containing a Remote Raid Pass and other items will be available in the shop for 1 PokéCoin.
Legendary Pokémon Raids
Niantic is bringing the Dialga and Palkia to the five-star raids again as Ultra Unlocks after Go Fest. One more Pokémon lined up for five-star raids after Dialga and Palkia, which is yet to be announced.
- Until August 6, 10 AM [local time]: Dialga
- August 6 to August 20: Palkia
- After August 20: TBA
Every Wednesday in August, a Raid Hour event will occur from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM [local time]. The following Legendary Pokémon will take more gyms during that day in the Raid Hour.

Upcoming events
Ultra Unlock Part 1: Time
From July 23, 10:00 AM to August 3, 8:00 PM [local time], Niantic wants to reward the players with Ultra Unlock Part 1 for completing global challenges in GO Fest 2021. Ultra Unlock Part 2: Space
As Part 1 wraps up, From August 6, 10:00 AM to August 17, 8:00 PM [local time], Palkia will disrupt the five-star raids as a part of Ultra Unlock Part 2. Also, different Pokémon from various places will appear more frequently in the wild. Check out our separate article covered Ultra Unlock Part 2.
GO Battle Night
On August 26, from 6:00 PM to 11:59 PM [local time], the third GO Battle Night of the season will be happening. Complete up to 100 battles, and receive three times the Stardust for winning battles, completing sets of battles, and ranking up in the GO Battle League.
