Niantic is bringing Festival of Lights to Pokemon GO. The Festival of Lights event features Electric-type Pokémon and a new Pokemon GO debut Dedenne. The Season of Mischief Story continues as the event unlocks new parts of the special research story. So for you to get things ready, here’s everything you need to know.
Date + Time
Friday, November 5, 2021, at 10:00 AM to Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 8:00 PM [local time].
Featured Pokémon
Dedenne is making its first time appearance is Pokemon GO. In addition, the following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild during the event:
- Dedenne Debut
- Pikachu
- Magnemite
- Slugma
- Whismur
- Electrike
- Blitzle
- Cottonee
- Tynamo
- Fennekin
- Darumaka Rare
- Litwick Rare
If you’re lucky, you might get a chance to encounter Shiny Darumaka ✨.
Raids
The following Pokémon will take gyms for raids in the event time frame:
- One-star Raids
- Charmander
- Vulpix
- Chinchou
- Litwick
- Dedenne
- Three-star Raids
- Alolan Raichu
- Electabuzz
- Magmar
- Bellossom
- Five-star / Legendary Raids
- Cobalion*
- Terrakion*
- Virizion*
- Mega Raids
- Mega Manectric
* Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion caught during this period will know the attack Sacred Sword.
Egg Hatches
The following Pokémon will be hatching from 7 km Eggs that are collected during the event:
- Alolan Geodude
- Chinchou
- Pichu
- Vulpix
- Magby
- Elekid
- Budew
Other Bonuses
Themed Field Research Tasks are also available. Completing them will reward you the encounters with some of the event-themed Pokémon listed above.
On November 7, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Blitzle and Dedenne will appear more frequently in the wild in India. In addition, trainers can get 2x Catch candy during this 3-hour period. Not only that, during that time period, Indian trainers can see fireworks in the game’s sky.
With Light Comes Shadow…
On Tuesday, November 9, 2021:
- You can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.
- Team GO Rocket members will be appearing significantly more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.
- Niantic said “More to Come…” but didn’t disclose the details. So let’s just stay tuned.
