Niantic is celebrating the fifth anniversary of Pokémon GO. Trainers can catch Shiny Darumaka and Flying Pikachu during the event. It’s been an incredible five years, and Pokémon GO is making $5 Billion now. Such a huge growth year on year, and they’ve also keep on adding new features to the game every year. However, it’s time to celebrate the fifth anniversary with a special event. There are a lot of featured Pokémon, researches, and other bonuses. So for you to get things ready, here’s everything you need to know.
Date + Time
Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 10:00 AM to Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 8:00 PM [local time].
Featured Pokémon
The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild during the event:
- Darumaka
- Flying Pikachu with a 5-shaped balloon
If you’re lucky, you may get a chance to encounter a Shiny Darumaka ✨.
In addition, you’ll also encounter these first-partner Pokémon in the wild:
- Bulbasaur
- Charmander
- Squirtle
- Treecko
- Torchic
- Mudkip
- Snivy
- Tepig
- Oshawott
When you use the Mystery Box during the fifth anniversary celebration event, and If you’re lucky, you may get a chance to encounter a Shiny Meltan✨.
Raids
The following Pokémon will appear in one-star raids in the event time frame.
- Darumaka
- Chespin
- Fennekin
- Froakie
- Flying Pikachu with a 5-shaped balloon
If you’re lucky, you may get a chance to encounter a Shiny Darumaka ✨.
Defense Forme Deoxys will continue taking five-star raids.
Researches and Challenges
- A collection challenge will be available during the event. Completing will reward you with 3 Rare Candies, 80 Poké Balls, and an encounter with Flying Pikachu with a 5-shaped balloon.
- Trainers will receive daily bonus Field Research tasks that lead to encounters with Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie.
- The Jump-Start Special Research will be available during the event time. Completing it will reward you with a ton of Stardust and XP, as well as some “exciting Pokémon encounters,” says Niantic. You must log in to the game during this event to get this special research. So try not to miss it.
Bonuses
- When you spin PokéStops and open Gifts, you’ll get fifth-anniversary Gift stickers. They will also be available to pick from the in-game shop.
- Trainers can expand their Item Bag up to 3,500 capacity from July 5 at 1:00 p.m. PDT.
- The Special Box, Ultra Box, and Adventure Box will contain different items starting on July 5 at 1:00 PM PDT.
- All Lure Modules will last for one hour during the event, including Glacial, Magnetic, Mossy, and Rainy Lure Modules.
