Pokémon GO Friendship Day Event

Niantic is bringing a friendship-themed Friendship Day event to Pokémon GO. This event is the first Friendship Day event that ever kicked off in Pokémon GO, and it features Grass-type Pokémon. In addition, the event also features increased chances of Lucky Pokémon when traded during the event time. There are a few more challenges and bonuses to complete and get rewarded. So for you to get things ready, here’s everything you need to know.

Date + Time

It is a three-hour event that takes place on Saturday, April 24, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM [local time].

Featured Pokémon

The Friendship Day event features Grass-type Pokémon like Grass-type Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Oddish, Sewaddle, Chikorita, Sunkern, Tangela, Cottonee, Foongus, and more. They appear more frequently in the wild during the event time frame.

Challenges

There will be a Grass-type themed collection challenge available in Today’s section during the event. Completing it will reward you with 175,000 XP.

Niantic is also hosting a Friendship Day Global Challenge during the event, which holds several hourly challenges. Completing each hourly challenge will reward you with 20,000 XP. [Removed… Learn more]

Other Bonuses

The distance requirement between you and your friend for trade will increase to 40 km during the event. Also, the chances of getting a Lucky Pokémon from trade will increase, and that hiked chances will last till 5:00 PM on the event day.

You can earn three times the XP than usual for catching a Pokémon during the event time frame (3X Catch XP).
