Niantic has updated all the events lined up for July 2021 in Pokemon GO. Pokemon GO July 2021 will have a colossal kickoff with Deoxys Raids. Niantic is bringing back the Defense Forme Deoxys to Pokémon GO along with some Mewtwo Raids later this month. Not only that, a lot of featured Pokémon, Raids, Researches and other bonuses are waiting. So for you to get things ready, here’s everything you need to know.
July Research Breakthrough encounters
For the entire month from July 1 to August 1, you will encounter Rufflet in Research Breakthrough encounters. As a bonus, you’ll also receive a free Remote Raid Pass and twice the XP when you achieve a Research Breakthrough.
Legendary Pokémon Raids
Niantic is bringing the Mythical Pokémon Defense Forme Deoxys to the five-star raids again. They’ll stay for the first half of the month till June 16 and later be replaced by the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo. One more Pokémon lined up for after Mewtwo, which is yet to be announced.
- July 1, 8 PM to July 16, 10 AM [local time]: Defense Forme Deoxys
- July 16 to July 23: Mewtwo
- After July 23: TBA
Note: On July 18, All the Legendary Pokémon discovered in the game will be available in five-star raids to challenge. So, trainers with Go Battle Rank above 20 can only catch Mewtwo on that day, winning the battles.
Every Wednesday in July, a Raid Hour event will occur from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM [local time]. The following Legendary Pokémon will take more gyms during that day in the Raid Hour.

Upcoming events
Pokémon GO’s anniversary celebration
From July 6, 10 AM to July 15, 8 PM [local time], Pokémon GO will celebrate its fifth anniversary. Niantic says that additional information about the event will be announced in early July.
GO Battle Night
On Sunday, July 11, from 6 PM to 11:59 PM [local time], the second GO Battle Night of the season will be happening. Complete up to 100 battles, and receive three times the Stardust for winning battles, completing sets of battles, and ranking up in the GO Battle League.
Pokémon GO Fest 2021
The largest event of the year in Pokémon GO is just around the corner. It will take place on July 17 and 18. Trainers get a chance to catch all the Legendary Pokémon discovered in the game so far on July 18. If you’re a ticket holder, more shiny chances, unique experiences, and other cool bonuses are waiting for you. You can purchase the Fest ticket from the in-game shop.
