Niantic has updated all the events lined up for October 2021 in Pokemon GO. Pokemon GO October 2021 will have a colossal kickoff with the Zarude debut. Niantic is bringing back Genesect, Altered Forme Giratina, and Darkrai to Pokemon GO Raids. Not only that, a lot of featured Pokémon, Researches and other bonuses are waiting. So for you to get things ready, here’s everything you need to know.
October Research Breakthrough encounters
From October 1 to November 1, you will encounter Yamask in Research Breakthrough encounters for the entire month.
Weekly Bundles
Every Monday throughout October, a one-time purchase bundle will be available in the shop for 1 PokéCoin. It contains a Remote Raid Pass and other items.
Legendary Pokémon Raids
Niantic is bringing back Genesect, Altered Forme Giratina, and Darkrai to the Pokemon GO five-star raids.
- Genesect (holding a Douse Drive) – October 1 to 12
- Altered Forme Giratina – October 12 to 22
- Darkrai (knows Sludge Bomb) – October 22 to November 5
If you are lucky, you might get a chance to encounter Shiny Giratina✨ and Shiny Darkrai✨.
Every Wednesday in October, a Raid Hour event will occur from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM [local time]. The following Legendary Pokemon, including Darkrai, will take more gyms during the Raid Hour on that day.

Upcoming Events
- Movie tie-in event: Niantic is celebrating the release of Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle with a special event by adding the Mythical Pokémon Zarude to Pokemon GO. This event starts on October 1 and lasts till October 10. You can encounter Zarude through a free Special Research story available to collect only during the event.
- Niantic’s Birthday: Niantic is giving away a free box in celebration of its birthday. Login to Pokémon GO on October 6, between 11 AM to 5 PM [local time], to collect the free box.
- Pokémon GO Halloween returns: From October 15 to 31, an annual spooky event takes place. Event-themed costumed Pokémon will appear in the wild, and a Halloween-themed Special Research story will be available. Niantic is yet to announce more things about this event soon.
