Niantic announced that it would add more Gyms and PokeStops to Pokemon GO in India early next year. They have a lot to add, thanks to Niantic’s Wayfarer Challenges.
“We are constantly working to improve our experience for many communities. This has been done via Wayfarer Challenges as well as through Niantic, adding Wayspots in communities that need them. Today, we are happy to announce the addition of new Wayspots to help our current and future Trainers in India,” the Pokémon GO team said in a statement.
In addition, they are also accelerating Niantic reviews of nominations in India to reduce the backlog while adding new Wayspots.
The team has also stated that about 5,00,000 new Gyms and PokeStops will be added to Pokemon GO in India between December 15, 2021, to February 2, 2022.
The Pokémon GO team further added, “these PokéStops will not have any images; however, Trainers who are Level 38 and above are eligible to suggest new photos at PokéStops and Gyms. Also, Trainers who achieved Level 38 and above can also nominate places to include on the Pokémon GO map.”

It’s good news to the Pokemon GO players in India who struggle to find a nearby Gym or PokeStop. It is not a promise to fill up all the areas, but 5,00,000 new Gyms and PokeStops is not a small number and will definitely make a lot of players happy.
