If you are looking for a change this new year and still using a phone that uses the BlackBerry OS it’s time to move on. BlackBerry has officially announced that all devices using the BlackBerry 7.1 OS, BlackBerry 10 software, BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1 and earlier versions will be shutting down from January 4th, 2022.

After January 4th you will not be able to use any of the services like WiFi connections, Data, phone calls, SMS, and even the 9-1-1 emergency services. This means the phones using these OS will be completely useless from that day onwards. That would be a piece of sad news for the BlackBerry fans but BlackBerry devices using Android will be working fine.

This news isn’t a surprise for anyone who has been following the tech world for a long time. BlackBerry was very dominant in the market during its earlier days but since early 2010 it is declining. In the year 2013, the CEO of BlackBerry announced their Pivot towards Software and cybersecurity. After that BalckBerry did try to re-enter the market with a new BlackBerry 10 OS. But that attempt did also failed and as per the requests from fans, the company did promise to provide support to the OS.

As the company is currently concentrating on providing some security to companies and the government it is getting hard for them to manage OS too. That is one of the reasons for the sudden decision that most are already ready for. Well if you have the BlackBerry phone running on Android then keep calm and be prepared. You might as well receive the news soon.
