Google Pixel 6 leaks suggests a new design with Whitechapel chipset

Google Pixel phone is known for its clean software experience and camera. Google from their first Pixel phone was mostly concentrated on the camera. They have captured some amazing pictures, and because of its powerful AI, the outcome would be so good. They have always been dependent on the software for their photography. Google has been in a relationship with the Sony IMX363 since their Pixel 3 in 2018. According to the leaks, it seems Google will finally break up with their favorite Sony IMX363 sensor in their upcoming Pixel 6 series.

It seems that Google is getting ready to step up in the smartphone category. First, they have broken up with their favorite sensor, and next, they will use their own chipset. Last year Google announced three smartphones in the pixel lineup in which not even one was a full flagship-level phone. They have been using Snapdragon 765G in their Pixel 5, which is just a mid-range chipset. There was news that Google is looking to develop its own chipset for its own products. And with Google Pixel 6, we might be able to see the new chipset.

The code name for the chipset that is in the works is the Whitechapel. Google will be using Samsung’s 5nm LPE process to design the chip. This new chipset will also be having its own NPU( neural processing unit ) and ISP( image signal processing ). According to the Android Police’s Max Weinbach, the scores of the processor lies between Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 888.

Specifications:

Let’s look at the specifications according to the leaks. This Google is looking to name their XL series as Pro. So we might be getting two smartphones, a regular Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro. When we look at the design, Google has finally thought of giving a remake to its smartphone design. This design also resembles the Nexus 6P glass camera housing but looks a bit fresh. We get to see a bezel-less full display with a punch hole at the center for the camera from the front. Some leaks also suggest that this might be the first Google smartphone to have an in-display fingerprint scanner. Coming to the display, the regular Google Pixel 6 might be having a 6.4-inch 120Hz Full HD display, whereas, in the Pro model, we get a 6.67-inch 120Hz Quad HD Display.

Pixel 6 Pro might have a triple camera setup as per the leaks. The primary camera might be a 50MP sensor hints might be a Sony sensor, and Ultra-wide sensor, and an 8MP periscope sensor with 5x optical zoom. The regular Pixel 6 will have a dual-camera setup like the Pro version without the periscope lens. There are no words about the front camera.

Every year, we have to wait some more months to have an official word of launch from Google.
