How does a normal person check their battery percentage on a smartphone? If you are an Android user you just give a glance at the screen. But a regular iPhone user needs to pull the control center to check the percentage of the battery. After the introduction of the notch in the iPhone X the battery percentage has been removed from the status bar. Now after 4 years Apple thought of a way to bring back the battery percentage on the status bar in iOS 16 Beta.
A new Beta version of iOS 16 has been released on August 8th that had this feature. But by default, this is not enabled you need to change it in the settings. The reason that Apple has removed this was due to the big fat notch on the front of the display that reduced the display ratio in the status bar for a better way to unlock the phone. Apple has been the only company that still uses the Face ID with a notch to unlock its device. Most of its competitors have started using an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner.
In order to enable this feature, we need to go to Settings-> Battery-> Battery Percentage and enable the feature. After enabling this feature you can see the battery percentage inside the battery icon. The number will be inside the battery icon and will be in black dark mode and will be in white color in normal mode. There is one catch here how would it be Apple if it does things so simple? So even if the battery is 10% the shade or fill-in the battery will be full. That will be a little annoying as that is the primary indication to know the battery percentage.
The feature is currently not found in iPhone 11, iPhone 12, or iPhone 13 mini. This will not be the final as it is still in the beta stage. The official stable rollout would be in September along with the launch of the new iPhone 14 series.
