OnePlus and Oppo will unify OxygenOS and ColorOS to form a new OS

Both the companies are working to develop a unified OS

OnePlus and Oppo journey

Pete Leu, who is currently the Chief Product Officer of OPPO and strategy officer for both OnePlus and Oppo, has announced a new journey of OnePlus. He names this announcement as the OnePlus 2.0 – The next step in our journey. If you had been an active member of the OnePlus community, you would have had an idea of what I am talking about. Earlier this year, Pete announced that Oppo and OnePlus will now work together to make better products. After some months, they have announced that the OxygenOS and ColorOS will be sharing the same code base.

After this announcement, the first phone from OnePlus is the OnePlus Nord 2 5G. The OnePlus Nord 2 5G has OxygenOS with a slight touch of the ColorOS. It has got the camera application straight from the ColorOS. There were some minimal changes taken from ColorOS. Apart from that remaining phone from OnePlus still have pure OxygenOS. OnePlus is the company that is known to have the best OS that is nearer to the stock.

Starting from 2022, all the OnePlus phones and Oppo phones will be having a unified OS. This unified OS will be starting from the Android 12 update. We have already got Oppo unveiling the ColorOS 12 based on the Android 12, and the OnePlus 9 series will also get the same by the end of 2021. Apart from the OnePlus 9 Series, no other lineup will be getting the Android 12 update this year.

Pete Leu mentions that OxygenOS and ColorOS will bring a unified global OS that will be more powerful. The Smooth and burdenless OxygenOS and rich features from ColorOS will be the core elements for the new global OS by Oppo and OnePlus.

Pete praises the outcome that he saw from the development of this OS. He mentions this OS will not disturb the core of OxygenOS of keeping it simple and will also support bootloader unlock. They haven’t mentioned any timeline of when the OS will reach a particular device. We have to wait a little more to have a timeline for this update.

So what do you think about this new unified OS? Just let us know in the comments.
