OnePlus Launch Event: OnePlus 8T, Nord Special Edition and OnePlus Buds Z

OnePlus virtual launch event today brings OnePlus 8T, OnePlus Nord Special Edition, and Some new OnePlus Buds Z. The event also hints at more products to come in the future. The pricing details of all the products is at the bottom of the article.

OnePlus 8T:

OnePlus has been teasing a lot about this phone for a month and we finally get to see about this now. Let’s see about this device in different sections.

Design:

OnePlus 8T back design was teased a few days ahead of the launch by the OnePlus itself. The phone has a metal frame with gorilla glass on both sides. The camera module does resemble the Samsung note 20 camera module but with a less bump. OnePlus 8T weighs only 188 grams and 8.4mm thick. The texture of the OnePlus 8T is similar to the Oneplus One Silk White claimed by Brian Yoon, Head of Creative department OnePlus. It is available in two color variants Aquamarine Green and Lunar Silver. Both of the colors have a different feel one with a layer that reflects light and another with a mat frost finish.

Display:

OnePlus has come to curved displays with the original 8 series. This time OnePlus has brought a Flat display to the OnePlus 8T. The display has a 120Hz refresh rate with a 240Hz sample rate but still is an FHD+ display. The phone has a brightness level up to 1100 nits and also has HDR10+ certification. OnePlus claims OnePlus 8T is the world’s first flat display with 120Hz to get a DisplayMate rating of A+. The color accuracy in the display is an important aspect and has the most accurate color with a JNCD of nearly 0.3. OnePlus 8T has 8192 automatic brightness levels most on any android phone.

Camera:

OnePlus 8T has a 48MP quad-camera setup. The main camera is a Sony IMX586 sensor with 48MP. Ultrawide camera with 16MP and a field view of 123°. A Macro camera with 5MP for the macro shots and also a 2MP Monochrome lens. The camera setup is quite similar to the 8 Pro but has little software improvements. The front camera is a 16MP Sony IMX471 with a fixed focus.

The Nightscape mode now turns on automatically depending on the lighting. That’s not all the Nightscape is now available in the video mode known as the Video Nightscape which makes it easier to record videos in the nighttime. Another video mode is the video portraits that focus on the subject and making the background softer to get professional video capturing. Video stability also has been improved with the help of OIS, EIS, and gyroscope.

Other Specs:

The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. It has up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 Storage. A Dolby Atmos dual stereo speakers and the upgraded Haptic engine as in the OnePlus 8 series. The phone has a battery of 4500 mAh with the new 65W Warp charging technology. OnePlus 8T will be the first phone to have 90FPS gameplay of Fornite.

 

OnePlus Nord Gray Ash:

The OnePlus Nord was the most hyped phone of 2020. The OnePlus Nord is their first product in the midrange smartphone. This smartphone was limited to only Europe, UK, and India. The special edition of the OnePlus Nord is just another new color variant of the phone. The new color is Gray Ash which looks similar to the Gray Onyx but OnePlus claims it to be different at a second look. The company says the new variant comes with a mat-like finish with this color. The New color variant is only available with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

OnePlus Buds Z:

The OnePlus Buds Z are the successors to the previous OnePlus Buds. These are Buds now have interchangeable silicone ear tips that block out external noise.

The weight of the new OnePlus Buds Z is just 4.35 grams. The Buds Z also has IP55 water and dust resistance. The OnePlus Buds Z has a 10mm dynamic driver together with Dolby Atmos and OnePlus own bass boost technology for deep bass and clear vocals. It features the low latency mode with 113ms, auto-pause when there are taken out, and touch controls that support google assistant. The OnePlus Buds along with the case can give you up to 20 hours of playback time and 10 minutes of fast charging can play up to 3 hours.

There is a special edition of the OnePlus Buds Z designed by Steven P. Harrington. The OnePlus Buds Z comes in two colors white and grey.

Oxygen OS11:

Oxygen OS is by far one of the best OS on android out there with a stock android feel but customizations. Now OnePlus is moving away from this with the new Oxygen OS 11 based on Android 11. We have already covered the beta version of Oxygen OS 11 which has got a flavor of One UI. OnePlus 8T will be the first phone to come with Oxygen OS 11 out of the box. Now the Always On Display also has some more features like the Canvas and Bitmoji. The Canvas AOD has a canvas sketch of the person you like to be in AOD which looks cool. The Bitmoji AOD will have your Bitmoji from Snapchat and will be changing according to the day and weather outside.

OnePlus 8T will be available to pre-order today and on sale on October 23rd in the US. In India, the OnePlus 8T will have Early Access sales from October 16th and Open sale on October 17th.
