OnePlus will start using ColorOS from OnePlus 9 only in China

Good bye to HydrogenOS

OnePlus will start using ColorOS from OnePlus 9 only in China

OnePlus is most loved for its stock-like feel OS. And now the company is leaving the OS and shifting to ColorOS of Oppo. We don’t know the reason why OnePlus is shifting like this. The good news is that this OS will be only in China. The global version of the phone will still be using OxygenOS. The company has officially confirmed this news via a post in the community.

OnePlus says they will use the customised version of the ColorOS only in China. This move has been taken into consideration after the feedback from users in China. The company will still be using OxygenOS for the rest of the world, even in the future. OnePlus said they are committed to providing the same fast and smooth experience that its users like.

This new move will be applicable from their upcoming OnePlus 9. This means that the company has officially given farewell to its HydrogenOS. Some say this new move is due to some famous Youtuber mentioning, “I would prefer ColorOS over OxygenOS”. But OnePlus says that this move is only to bring a good software experience to Chinese users that is better for their liking.

The OnePlus that we are witnessing is different from what it used to be. In January, Oppo and OnePlus have merged their R&D departments. Now OnePlus is starting to use Oppo’s ColorOS in their china phones. The direction in which OnePlus is going opposite and doesn’t seem good. The question is that will it also bring ColorOS to the international market. Both the companies are brothers but having the same OS and hardware with a different brand name is not fine. Instead, they can buy Oppo phones which also have similar features of hardware and software. Recently we have also seen some of the Oppo phone models coming as OnePlus phones in other countries.
