Samsung launches Galaxy S21 FE with Snapdragon 888 in India

Samsung literally claimed that this Snapdragon 888 variant is faster than their Exynos variant.

Samsung launches Galaxy S21 FE with Snapdragon 888 in India

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S21 FE in India, equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 888 chipset. Leading up to the launch, the company had been teasing the arrival of this phone, and some physical stores had already started selling it prior to the official announcement. In early 2022, Samsung had introduced the Exynos 2100 variant of the phone in India, with the Snapdragon 888 version being limited to the US market.

It appears that Samsung has now discontinued the Exynos 2100 variant of the Galaxy S21 FE in India, as it is no longer listed on the official website. However, some stores may still have remaining stock of the Exynos version available for purchase.

The Galaxy S21 FE (SM-G990B4) featuring the Snapdragon 888 processor is now readily available in India through the Samsung India website and authorized retailers across the country. It carries a price tag of INR 49,999 (approximately $606), and customers who make the purchase using an HDFC Bank card are eligible for a cashback of INR 5,000. The phone is offered in five color options: Graphite, Lavender, Navy, Olive, and White.

The pricing of the phone has received some criticism, as there is a significant difference between the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 versions. Additionally, not everyone possesses an HDFC Bank card, which poses a challenge in availing the cashback. Several other brands offer phones with newer processors like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 at a similar or lower price point.

The Galaxy S21 FE variant featuring the Snapdragon 888 chip boasts 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It sports a 6.4-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. The phone is equipped with a 32MP front-facing camera and a rear camera setup consisting of a 12MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera capable of 3x optical zoom. All cameras can record videos in 4K at 60fps.

A 4,500mAh battery powers the device, supporting 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Notably, it also features reverse wireless charging, stereo speakers, an IP67 dust and water resistance rating, an in-display fingerprint reader, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
