After many concerns raised by the customers, Samsung finally heard the users and decided to remove ads from its stock apps in One UI. It promised to remove the ads with an update in August, and it seems Samsung has kept it.
Unlike other brands that place ads in their UI, Samsung used to advertise in its stock apps. However, a limited annoyance is still an annoyance anyway, seeing ads after purchasing the mobile phone. Samsung is finally fixing it. We verified the apps like Samsung Weather, Samsung Health, and Samsung Pay apps, and we didn’t find any ads in those apps. If you still notice ads in these apps, try force-stopping and relaunching them. Folks at 9to5google have also confirmed that they found no ads in these apps. However, I checked Samsung Game Launcher just while writing this article, and I can still see a bunch of ads in that.
According to the Tizenhelp report, a moderator in Samsung Community forums has announced that the Samsung Health app won’t display ads starting yesterday (October 1).
The moderator posted, “This is the Samsung Health Operation Manager. Please note that the banner at the top of the Samsung Health app will not be provided from October 1st.” (Translated)
This move by Samsung is expected as they promised in August to remove ads from apps like Samsung Pay, Samsung Weather, Samsung Themes, and others. It’s good to see Samsung is following through. There is no official statement from Samsung regarding when it will remove its ads from the remaining apps. But it’s great the company actually started pulling them off.
