The fate of Black Panther 2 is a question mark after the lead actor’s tragic death earlier this year. Many fans wondered how a new face could fit Chadwick Boseman’s legacy character in Black Panther for its sequel. Also, it seems like they’re not even ready to think of someone else playing T’Challa.

Reportedly, Marvel will not be using CGI to recreate Chadwick Boseman.

It’s Disney Investor Day; they usually make major announcements on this day. They just announced a total of 61 movies from the worlds of Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel Studios, Star Wars, Nat Geographic, and Disney+. After that, Disney and Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, made it clear that they will not replace Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa.

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther 2 will continue to honor the legacy of Chadwick Boseman and his portrayal of King T’Challa, and will not recast the character.

– Marvel Studios mentioned in an article.

Black Panther 2 is being written and directed by Ryan Coogler, who wrote and directed the first Black Panther. The Black Panther release date has also been set for July 8, 2022.

Here is Disney’s official statement on Twitter

This was the best decision that Marvel could’ve ever taken to honor Chadwick Boseman, who is a real hero on and off-screen. The Black Panther cast and crew didn’t even know Boseman was battling cancer during the first movie’s filming.

“We’re just still mourning Chad, so it’s not something I even want to think about. The thought of doing it without him is kinda strange. We’re just grieving at the moment, so it’s trying to find the light in the midst of it,” Letitia Wright, who played T’Challa’s sister, Princess Shuri, stated.
