DC is ready to shake things up with its comic app on January 21st and relaunching it as DC Universe Infinite. The original DC Universe Infinite has Television shows, and comics as the shows will be now on HBO Max. The company thinks it is better to have an app to focus on the community with comics. This move is made to keep the subscription price the same $7.99 (roughly the same as Rs. 580) per month.
The DC Universe Infinite will be having DC’s Catalogue and early access to comics. The reader will have access to the comics only after six months the book is out in physical stores. The Company also says the comic reader in the app is improved and users will have more options to curate more custom lists.
As per The Verge, this app is similar to the Marvel Unlimited that has $9.99 as subscription per month. It also has exclusive access to comics as the DC Universe Infinite will be having. The app will have a customisable icon and widget in the iOS 14 to get back the reader where they left.
Infinite undercuts Marvel with the subscription keeping its cost lower than the Marvel and looking to make it popular.
As the extended universe expands the comics apps are for the comic book fans. They are for everyone who is trying to appreciate the tradition into each superhero outing. WarnerMedia have finally got their plan some sense. HBO Max will be having the movies and TV shows of the DC whereas the Infinite will be having only the comics. The only test will be for the fans whether they will be paying $22 for both the services.
