Disney has huge plans this month on the occasion of the anniversary of Disney Plus. In collaboration with IMAX, Disney will present the Marvel movies in IMAX enhanced aspect ratio on Disney Plus. A total of 13 Marvel movies on Disney Plus will be upgraded to an IMAX enhanced aspect ratio starting on November 12th.
This also includes Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings that will be out on November 12th. So you might be getting a doubt what the new Enhanced IMAX Aspect Ratio is? In simple terms, you will now view the picture with very few black spaces around the video. The average aspect ratio of the TVs is 16:9, but traditionally IMAX uses a 1.43:1 format that is squarer than regular. Some scenes from the Marvel movies will be 1.90:1 as those have been shot on IMAX certified cameras for a taller picture. Not only the aspect ratio, but IMAX Enhanced will also provide DTS surround sound.
“For more than a decade, IMAX has helped filmmakers take fans across the Marvel Cinematic Universe in theaters, and now that epic journey crosses into a new world: the home,” said Rich Gelfond, CEO of IMAX.
The Full List of IMAX certified Marvel Movies are:
- Ant-Man and the Wasp
- Avengers: Endgame
- Avengers: Infinity War
- Black Panther
- Black Widow
- Captain America: Civil War
- Captain Marvel
- Doctor Strange
- Iron Man

You now no need to go to an IMAX theater to have the IMAX experience. We can now experience it in the comfort of our own homes.
