The Fast and Furious Saga is continuing its legacy and shows no sign of slowing down. The ninth sequel of The Fast Saga, called F9 or Fast 9 released in theatres on June 25, 2021. In its first weekend, F9 has earned over $70 million at the domestic box office. F9 has set a new North American record during the COVID-19 pandemic with its huge opening.

According to the THR report, F9 had the most significant domestic opening since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker earned $177 million in December 2019.

Globally, F9 crossed $400 million.

The ninth sequel of the fast and furious saga is a much-needed release for the viewers to get back the theatrical experience. It’s a big win for Universal as it decided to delay the movie release for an entire year due to the pandemic.

Although the F9 didn’t reach the $98.8 million The Fate of the Furious opening in 2017, it easily surpassed the $60 million domestic launch of Hobbs & Shaw.

As per the pandemic record, F9 easily managed to cross the open earnings of recent releases Godzilla vs. Kong, A Quiet Place Part II and Mortal Kombat.

The fast and furious franchise became the fifth-biggest movie franchise globally with $6.2 billion global earnings, outdoing the X-Men series.

F9 will continue its rollout in international markets throughout the summer. However, it still got so many key markets left to open, including United Kindom.
