Game of Thrones prequel canceled by HBO after spending $30 million

HBO has spent $30 million on the pilot of this show

Game of Thrones prequel

Game of Thrones prequel was canceled by HBO after shooting the pilot. This first episode i.e., Pilot of the prequel has a budget of $30 million. The company has spent that much amount on a pilot of a web series and did cancel it. The main reason behind the canceling of the series is that the makers of the series thought it would not deliver the promise about the web series.

The WarnerMedia chairman Bob Greenblatt said in an interview with Andrew Miller gave this news. He said, “I was present when they spent $30 million on Game of Thrones prequel”. After a few months when he saw the cut he mentioned to Casey that it is not going to work. He just thought that this will not deliver the promise of the original series. Well to his comments Casey also didn’t disagree which gave him a lot of relief.

If the series was made even after his comments that might have turned into a disaster. After the most famous Game of Thrones, the makers have thought of making a couple of prequel series. In which one of the series was set thousands of years ago before the Game of Thrones. The prequel is still untitled and will remain silent as they have stopped shooting it.

In a statement, HBO said thanks to all the crew and cast for their hard work and dedication. The announced series Game of Thrones: House of Dragons will be released on HBO Max by the end of 2022. From now on HBO should be planning the series before it spends that much amount and then canceling it.
