HBO Max’s new upcoming series Friends Reunion Special will be coming soon. The reunion is now finally set to film from this week, April 5, according to Variety. This special will bring the original sitcom main cast Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer. They will be seen together on screen after a very long gap. The actors have to return to the show’s original sound stage on the Warner Bros. studio.
“I’m going to Los Angeles — we’re going to be shooting the Friends reunion next week. I’m going to see everyone next week for the first time in many years.”- Schwimmer in a virtual interview on The Graham Norton. He then said that the show would not be scripted and they are not in their characters. The actors will appear as themselves.
The Friends reunion was supposed to start in February 2020, just before the crisis. It was then supposed to air in May 2020. Warner Bros. had initially thought of starting the shoot in March but had to push the date due to COVID. The companies chairman didn’t want the reunion to be a virtual web call event. He wants the audience to have the experience of the six great friends getting back together.
The special will be filmed on Stage 24, the original “Friends” soundstage on the Warner Bros. Studio. The reunion will have Ben Winston as director and executive producer alongside Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane.
Friends is a sitcom show about six friends in their mid-20s and 30s who live in Manhattan, New York City. The show has been moved to HBO Max from Netflix, and the reunion will also be aired as an HBO Max special.
