Marvel Studios Armor Wars series enlists a comedian as head writer

After WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, Marvel is trying to expand its success in making TV series in MCU. Marvel’s upcoming limited series Armor Wars, starring Don Cheadle, who will portray James Rhodes, aka War Machine. The plot of the limited series is still uncertain. But it will probably revolve around what would happen if Tony Stark’s technology falls into the wrong hands?

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios Armor Wars enlisted Yassir Lester, known as a comedian, as the head writer to the project. Lester has writing credits for the Black Dynamite, Duncanville, and acting credits on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Making History, and Black-Ish.

For Cheadle and Lester, Armor Wars will be the second time working together. The pair have previously worked on the Showtime series Black Monday.

Although Lester’s background is fundamentally in comedy writing, his pitch for Armor Wars excited both Cheadle and Marvel execs for what he thought the show could be, according to Deadline.

Armor Wars is one of the three TV series Marvel announced during its investor’s presentation last December. Marvel’s TV series strategy is a big success, and the numbers tell the story. WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki breaking the viewership records on Disney+. Wanda Vision also earned some Emmy Nominations too including “the best limited series” nomination.

Marvel Studios Armor Wars is still under early development, and president Kevin Feige will continue to be the producer of the series. The series is yet to find its director. Similar to the previous tv series, Armor Wars will also be streamed on Disney Plus.

Marvel’s Armor Wars, yet another Marvel Disney+ action limited series after WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki. The upcoming Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel are also in the lineup to hit Disney+ as live-action shows.
