Netflix will soon let you pay extra for sharing password

Well if you are using Netflix with friends by sharing your password then a sad news for you. Netflix has found a way to track these kind of accounts and charge for sharing. This doesn’t mean only a single person can use the account even in the premium plan. Netflix will allow you to share password with your family members you live with in the same house.

Netflix Director Chengyi Long mentioned about this update in an official post. Along with the prevention of password sharing there is another feature that will let you transfer profile to a new account. The password sharing is something Netflix has been working from the last year and came up with a solution. Netflix is planning to first launch this feature in three countries namely Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru.

Chengyi mentions that in order for to share a password you need to pay some extra money if that person is doesn’t live with. The user who wants to share can only do that with up to only two members in the Standard and Premium plans. The update will be coming for testing in the coming weeks. The price for sharing password with people other than those who live in the household are: 2,380 CLP in Chile, $2.99 USD in Costa Rica, and 7.9 PEN in Peru.

Another feature that Netflix is looking to introduce is the sharing of profile with another account. This feature is available to users that have Basic, Standard, and Premium plans. In this feature user can share their account to transfer their profile to a new account or even to an extra member sub account. With the transfer you will be able to share viewing history, My List, and personalized.
