Director Zack Snyder’s much-awaited movie in recent times is Army of the Dead. It hit the selected theatres on May 14 and had its Netflix release on May 21. It’s a typical Zombie movie… or a Heist movie… whatever; it got all the spices mixed with perfection by Snyder. For this movie, Zack is the Director, Director of Photography, Screen Writer, and even part of the production. Okay, let’s talk about the movie with a spoiler-free promise. Before we get into Army of the Dead Review, let’s talk synopsis.
Synopsis
The official synopsis read, “Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.”
Scott Ward (Dave Bautista) agrees to a heist and teams up with all the other characters in the movie to pull it. The thing is, money is in Las Vegas (Zombie Vegas), where the entire city is infected and quarantined. However, you must see the movie to know how they pulled it and what consequences they had to face.

Opinion
As the heading reads, “Context slips, but the content hits,” the movie is a piece of excitement from beginning to end. The storyline, which is unclear and misses the context, is what disappoints. But the sequences the characters go through and quarrel between zombies and them and also between themselves are engaging to watch. The content of the movie does not disappoint anyone, as I believe, as the action sequences and visuals are so phenomenal from the beginning.
Snyder put a great effort into the Direction of Photography as it is stunning at every frame of the movie. The zombified Las Vegas or Zombie Vegas environment is designed perfectly with the debris everywhere; it looks so real. A heist in the middle of a Zombie quarantined zone is a great idea to implement, and the story written following that idea is good. The cast did their job with absolute perfection, and that is what makes the movie more engaging.
The Graphics or CGI is remarkable. It involves creating the Zombie Vegas environment and also other parts of the movie. My favorite CGI-made character is Valentine, the zombie tiger. You can see how stunning it looks in the film. They designed its walk, behavior, and its hunt exceptionally.
It is in the headlines that Snyder is actually planning to make sequels for the movie. So I believe that is why the storyline felt incomplete in the film. Let’s see what comes next from the world of Army of the Dead.
Verdict
Above all, the movie is a must-watch, cause’ it is a great entertainer. The movie is damn engaging, and the visuals are stunning to watch. The storyline disappoints a bit, but the content drives you throughout the movie. The Direction of Photography and Art direction played an essential role in the film. The cast is amazing and is the perfect fit for the characters.
