Hawkeye, A festival bliss, I can say… The storyline is pretty simple and kind of expected, except for a couple of things. As promised, it is a Hawkeye spoiler-free review, and I don’t want to reveal anything, so do enjoy it while watching it. Directed by Rhys Thomas, Bert, and Bertie, Hawkeye has a passable story, and it is a decent action-adventure to watch. Before we get into Marvel’s Hawkeye Review, let’s read the synopsis and info of episodes.
By the way, I want to write this review with a spoiler-free promise so that you won’t get any kind of data from the original story except the synopsis. I merely share my opinion in the review. So rest assured and read the complete review.
Synopsis
The official overview of Hawkeye reads, “Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, who teams up with another well-known archer from the Marvel comics, Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld.”
Kate Bishop’s role model has been Hawkeye ever since she saw him fighting aliens in The Avengers (2012). She is a brave and funny character whose dream is to be a hero (like an Avenger). Clint and Kate’s paths cross while clearing some old mess. The story mainly revolves around Hawkeye’s old mess (Ronin) and Kate’s family background.

Opinion
Hawkeye, as promised, is a Christmas surprise. The entire six episodes of the storyline occur before the eve and end on Christmas day. So you’ll get to see Christmas trees, ugly sweaters, Christmas lights, and a lot of Xmas-themed elements throughout the series. And coming to how good the series is, as I mentioned earlier, the storyline is pretty linear, and most things are expected. The direction is decent but feels off at some parts. By “off”, I mean not too exciting and not too boring. The cast performances are absolutely tremendous and natural.
You’ll get to see a character called Maya Lopez a.k.a. “Echo”, played by Alaqua Cox; she is deaf and uses ASL in most parts. She portrayed that character really well and can make a special connection to you while watching her. However, it’s good to see a lot of ASL scenes are kept so natural.
The scene having Kate Bishop as a kid during the Avengers war in 2012 was created amazingly good. The connection to The Avengers (2012) film and recreation of that by telling a new story is fantastic.
Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop did one of her best performances. You’re gonna love the way she takes the scenes in a pretty fun manner. Jeremy Renner, our beloved Hawkeye, of course, we don’t need to specially mention how good he performed. Apparently, we all know he is really good at playing his character as Hawkeye, and he nailed it this time too.
Even though the action sequences are not too many, the visuals are good at every scene that it has. The screenplay is straightforward, and the entire series is a good watch. To be obvious, it’s a must-watch as you know the Marvel stories continue forward, and everything is interlinked.
Verdict
In conclusion to the Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye Review, this is the verdict I feel like writing. I would say Hawkeye is not much of an action-packed Marvel-style story, but it has a few elements that take the MCU stories forward.
Kate Bishop’s character is exceptional and fun to watch around Hawkeye, and more outstanding is their partnership. Clint and Kate’s partnership is cherry on top and really worked well for the series.
On the whole, if you ask me one line about Hawkeye, it’s a passable story with a few fun parts and action sequences. There is no word from Marvel regarding the Season 2 of Hawkeye, so I believe it is limited.
Here’s is the score that I feel Iike giving to the entire season 1 of Hawkeye. You can go through the score and its breakdown below.
