Opinion
The mini-series runs on fantastic storytelling with a no-nonsense policy. Cast performances are magnificent as it really looks like we’re watching the people of a small American town. Their forced smiles, emotions, and behavior carried out very well throughout the series. And mainly I must point out that the relation between Mare (Kate Winslet) and her mother Helen (Jean Smart) was portraited so well, and you’ll enjoy every scene between them.
The key part of any crime story or murder mystery is how well the storyline hides the real accused until its end. In that case, Mare of Easttown gains 10 out of 10 for that, and I bet most cannot guess who’s the killer until the series revealed it. And meanwhile, the story runs on holding a suspect and twists again for several times. Believe me; the series will win on you every time you think you guessed the killer. So that’s how it goes.
Apart from the murder mystery, Mare of Easttown also showcases how life could be in a small town. The friends, family, importance of relations, neighbors, every little aspect is perfectly crafted in the series.
Verdict
In conclusion to the Mare of Easttown Review, this is the verdict I feel like writing. The HBO Original mini-series is a well-crafted crime drama with an amazing cast, stunning storyline and screen run, mixed emotions, and a perfect ending. As a lead role, Kate Winslet delivers a magnificent performance as a detective, daughter, mother, and grandmother. The direction is great, and the visuals are the best and well-suited. The entire 7-episode mini-series goes on with multiple twists, not bad(ly) engaging, as well as thrilling. So it’s a must-watch.
