The Lord of the Rings series by Amazon will premiere from 2022

The Lord of the Rings TV series by Amazon Studios will be coming in 2022. The series will be exclusively available in the Prime Video from September 2, 2022. This journey to the Middle Earth will be returning as Amazon officially announced the release date. Amazon, through Twitter, has released the first look poster and the date when the show will be available.

The show will have new episodes every week starting from September 2, 2022. This series will be available to stream in 240 countries throughout the world. There is no official announcement on how many episodes will be coming in the first season. Amazon has chosen the weekly episodic approach to embark us with the journey to Middle Earth. In the announcement, Amazon also has released the first look image from the first episode of the series. However, we have no information on the actor in the look and regarding the setting.

Jennifer Salke, The Head of Studios, said, “I can’t express enough just how excited we all are to take our global audience on a new and epic journey through Middle-earth.” Until now, the filming of the series has been done in New Zealand with some of the cast and crew. The development of the series began in 2017 after Amazon bought rights to stream The Lord of the Rings trilogy. After that, Amazon has committed to five-season TV series with a budget of $465 million that can be worth $1 billion. With this, Amazon is making history as one of the most expensive TV series ever.

Season 1 started in February 2020 but has been put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, as works are slowly resuming, they rush the completion of the shoot and start with post-production works for season 1.
