Wonder Woman 1984 is set to hit Big Screens and OTT at once on Christmas

One of the biggest movie in 2020 from DC is also going to be streamed

Wonder Women 1984

One of the biggest movies in the 2020s Wonder Woman 1984 finally set to premiere on 25th December. After many postpone Wonder Woman 1984 set to release in theaters and on HBO Max on December 25th.

The most anticipated movie Wonder Woman 1984, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, will debut in US theatres on December 25. And it will also premiere on HBO Max on the same day. Warner Bros, in a statement, said the movies will release in overseas 9 days earlier on December 16th. “As we navigate these unprecedented times, we’ve had to be innovative in keeping our businesses moving forward while continuing to super-serve our fans,” Ann Sarnoff, Chair and CEO, WarnerMedia Studios said.

The movie till now has been pushed from June to August to October 2nd and finally set to December 25th.  Although it’s pandemic US theaters are open and if those who aren’t willing to go into the theaters they can stream in HBO Max. HBO Max subscribers will have the opportunity to watch the film directly from home. The streaming service costs $14.99 a month.

Gal Gadot also posted a similar thing on Instagram, as they have to wait for a long time to release the movie due to this pandemic but they got the advantage to release it in theaters and HBO Max at a time. As there are fewer subscribers to HBO Max, this move may pace up the HBO Max subscriptions. But the main thing here is the movie will stream in HBO Max for the first month of its release.

So Wonder Woman 1984 headed to HBO Max this Christmas, it would become the latest blockbuster in a streaming release. Disney moved Mulan to Disney+ and decided to put the movies in theaters when the streaming service isn’t available. Pixar’s Soul is launching exclusively on Disney+ on Christmas Day as well, so Wonder Woman 1984 is not only the high-profile film to release on holiday.

Especially for Warner Bros, the move comes after the studio, and Christopher Nolan pushed for theaters to reopen alongside Tenet. But, it appears not to put the fate of one of their biggest film entirely in the hands of theaters. So, this decision will ultimately be another major blow to the theatrical business, as Wonder Woman 1984 was the last major blockbuster standing for 2020.
