Zack Snyder reveals his original backstory of Wonder Woman

Director Zack Snyder explains the original backstory for Diana Prince before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Wonder Woman.

Zack Snyder back story of Wonder Woman

The old picture of Diana Prince holding 3 severed heads during the Crimean War is going viral on social media. Many fan discussions are going on due to that, and most of them are incomplete. Director Zack Snyder, known for his social activeness, has posted that image and explained the original back story of Wonder Woman before the debut of ‘Batman v Superman.’

Snyder spotted the image during a recent online interview with great interest from the public. In the photo, the Themysciran Princess poses with a spear and holding several severed heads. That shows her fighting capabilities. This frame never made into DC Extended Universe as Diana’s backstory changed as it takes place at the time of World War I, as seen in Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman in 2017. A similar image with almost identical poses seen in the first Wonder Woman. The same image, also seen in ‘Batman v Superman,’ tipped Batman about Diana’s real identity.

Since Diana’s first and brutal image is out, Snyder took Twitter to explain the context behind it by himself.  Zack Snyder disclosed that it is Wonder Woman in the year 1854. The image shot by Stephen Berkman has Diana holding three severed heads and a spear in each hand. He mentioned that it is an “else-world, war-weary Diana” Prince. Snyder said that Diana of 1854 had chased Ares across the battlefields (to explain her 3 heads in hand). He took the idea as until when she meets Steve Trevor “who would help her restore her faith in mankind and love itself,” she was like that. Check out his full tweet below:

The image is contradicting everything that has been revealed in Wonder Woman so far. Especially, in Wonder Woman 1984, she is the one who opposes the violence. Taking how beloved the Wonder Woman that we know, it feels better that they changed the Wonder Woman idea of Diana fighting in the Crimean War. They built Diana’s character as good, kind, capable, and strong to become a better role model. Glad they did so.
