Airtel to use Qualcomm platform for 5G service

Airtel partnering with Qualcomm to bring 5G services in India

On Tuesday, Bharati Airtel, India’s one of the largest telecom providers, has announced the partnership with Qualcomm for 5G services in India. In the announcement, it mentions that it will be using Qualcomm’s 5G RAN platform. Airtel is the first to test the 5G network over the communication line in Hyderabad, India. The company boasts about this test as it is one step ahead of its rival Reliance Jio.

Now Airtel is looking to use Qualcomm’s 5G RAN platform to roll out virtualized 5G network in the country. Airtel is still attracting new subscribers monthly as it got 4.05 million customers in the December of 2020. Through this partnership, they will be able to create new opportunities in small and medium-sized businesses. The RAN( Radio Access Network) scalability and flexibility in the deployment of 5G are the best for Airtel, and its vendors say Airtel.

Airtel will collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies to enable 5G fixed wireless access. This will deliver broadband connectivity at gigabit speeds to businesses and homes. The partnership will also allow the company to roll-out the 5G services fast in a cost-effective manner across India.

With this, customers will be able to download larger files in seconds and stream 4K videos on the go. It also unlocks the portal to the next era of hyper-fast internet and ultra-low latency digital connectivity.

Reliance Jio, on the other hand, already mentioned that it would be using Qualcomm’s RAN platform for 5G earlier last year. The company mentions it has got a speed of 1Gbps when tested in the US.
