Amazon India has launched a new free video streaming platform called the miniTV. This isn’t a separate application and is available in the latest version of the Amazon shopping app. This miniTV is launched only in India and might later expand to other parts of the World. Currently, the app has minimal shows and videos. miniTV is an ad-supported video streaming service just like YouTube.
Amazon miniTV doesn’t require any subscription and is available for free, unlike the Prime Video. The miniTV has content from different web series, tech news, food, beauty, fashion, and more. The app includes videos from TVF, Pocket Aces, Ashish Chanchlani, Amit Bhadana, Round2Hell, Harsh Beniwal, Shruti Arjun Anand, Elvish Yadav, Prajakta Koli, Swagger Sharma, Aakash Gupta, and Nishant Tanwar. Regarding the tech news, it has videos from Tarkin Tech. For the beauty and fashion videos, there are expert videos from Sejal Kumar, Malvika Sitlani, Jovita George, Prerna Chhabra, and ShivShakti. If you are a Food lover, then miniTV has videos for you from Kabita’s Kitchen, Cook with Nisha, and Gobble.
Amazon in a blog mentions that it will be adding more new and exclusive videos to miniTV. While writing this article, the miniTV doesn’t have a separate section in the sidebar on the Amazon app. To watch videos from miniTV, you have to scroll down on the home page to find the ad section shown in the below screenshot. The video service also has parental controls to restrict content that is not suitable for the children.
With this miniTV, Amazon will be competing with its rival Flipkart that has got its video streaming service (FlipKart Video) for a long time. Amazon will be having two video streaming services, miniTV and Prime video, where Prime Video needs a subscription and offers award-winning Amazon originals, the latest movies, and TV Shows.
The miniTV is only available on Android devices and soon will be available on the iOS app and mobile web.
