Amazon, the e-commerce giant, has revised its Amazon Prime Membership plans. Amazon brought back the monthly plan and the three months plan to new Prime subscription plans.

Previously, Amazon had to remove the monthly Prime subscription plan to compile with the guidelines of RBI regarding recurring online transactions. The Reserve Bank of India asked all the companies who follow recurring payments to enable additional authentication (AFA) for processing those online transactions. However, Amazon somehow managed to bring back the monthly plan but with a caveat. The Amazon Prime Membership monthly subscription plan can only be purchased with credit cards or selected debit cards. At the same time, the remaining plans accept all the electronic payment methods.

The e-commerce giant will now offer three subscription options for Prime membership. The annual plan will cost you INR 999, whereas the three-month plan would cost you a discounted rate of INR 329 instead of INR 387. You can purchase these two plans with any kind of payment method that Amazon offers. The INR 129 monthly Prime subscription plan is also listed back on Amazon, but one can purchase them only through credit cards or select debit cards.

According to the terms and conditions page on Amazon, One can only purchase the INR 129 monthly Prime membership through banks that have complied with RBI’s e-mandate guidelines. All the banks that haven’t complied with the changes may not process any requests for automated recurring payments.

Due to these guidelines, Amazon had to discontinue its one-month free trial for new members. Amazon didn’t bring back free trials as of now. We just have to wait till further notice.
