Apple launched a new pair of an audio device, the successor to AirPods Pro, with an over-ear design and named it AirPods Max. Just another premium headphones that grab some (maybe a few more) of your hard-earned money and provides you some Apple’s promising features. Let me list them out.
- Apple-designed dynamic driver
- Active Noise Cancellation
- Transparency mode
- High-fidelity audio
- Adaptive EQ
- Spatial audio with dynamic head tracking
In addition to all the above, Apple also claims that it can last for up to 20Hrs with the Active Noise Cancellation turned ON, thanks to Apple’s own H1 Chip. As it has its own, it provides a premium wireless audio experience. It runs on Bluetooth 5.0, for mention.
Physical Overview
Talking physical appearance, AirPods Max seems stunning and comfortable. It got some physical controllers and sensors on it. The Digital Crown, inspired by Apple Watch design, helps control volume precisely. It can also do things like play or pause audio, skip tracks, answer or reject calls, and activate Siri.
It seems to lack power on/off button on it. But it has a dedicated Noise control button to switch between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparent mode.
Worth mention, it got a total of nine microphones, and eight of them are for Active Noise Cancellation.
It can sense you
Apple AirPods Max comes with optical and position sensors, used for wear detection and other things that sense you and controls the playback. Adaptive EQ helps enrich the audio experience by adjusting frequencies in real-time according to the ear cushions’ fit and seal.
Spatial Audio is something you might already aware of. It helps in producing a theatre-like experience using a gyroscope and accelerometer inside the AirPods Max.
Apple AirPods Max Smart Case
AirPods Max surprisingly comes with an in-box Smart Case, so no extra bucks for that. When AirPods are inside the Smart Case, it merely preserves the charge by keeping that in an ultra-low power state. I understand now why it does not have a dedicated power on/off button. Simply, it never turns off until the juice remains.
Price and Availability
It will cost you $549/£549/INR 59,900.
They are available in five different colors, such as Space Gray, Silver, Green, Sky Blue, and Pink. Every color variant comes with a dual-color shade, like Pink and Red, as in the above picture.
