Apple is thinking serious in making gaming controllers for their devices. Recent filings shows a patent filed by Apple for a gaming controller that can be used by iPhone and iPad. The patent filing has three types of controllers that you can attach to your iPhone and iPad.
This patent was filed in Europe that was little different from the previous filing in the US. There are some different styles of controllers present in the patent. The first style of controller are detachable game controllers that can be attached to your iPhone or iPad in both landscape or portrait view. This looks like a traditional controller with D-pad and a single analog controller.
The second style looks a little different from the first. This controller will be also having a small display between the controller buttons. This can either used like a magic keyboard or used like a wireless controller. This small display or secondary display can be used to show in-game content like character health or notifications from your phone to not disturb you while playing games.
The third design is more of a perfect traditional one. It is like a normal Xbox or PS controller that can connect to your device using Bluetooth. The difference it makes is that this controller can be used with even Apple TV also. It will be having a slider button that will allow you to change different modes. As per the patent it will be having three modes game mode, phone mode, and messaging mode.
These are just patents so don’t except the similar design or features to come out. There were cases where the actual product didn’t even came out to the public world. With this patent on gaming controllers you can find the seriousness Apple is having to expand its wing towards gaming.
