Carl Pei, co-founder and former CEO of OnePlus, had left the company in September last year and started his new venture called Nothing. He raised $7 million in seed financing from some high-profile investors and finally started the company earlier this year. Carl Pei’s Nothing is now inviting people to invest in it before the Initial Public Offering (IPO). Well, that’s a great offer to invest, if you believe Carl Pei’s Nothing can do more in the future.
On Tuesday, the company announced that it would be initiating a community equity round next month. That gives a chance to become a shareholder of Nothing. It said, $1.5 million worth of shares will be available to the community, and those will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The share price will be the same as Nothing’s Series A funding round led by GV (formerly Google Ventures). Pre-registration for the round is already live; many of the people interested in Nothing have already got their email invites. The investment-campaign will go live on March 2 at 10 AM GMT (3:30 PM IST).
“We’ve already told you that we want to do things differently. We believe it’s time for a fresh breeze of change in the consumer tech world. What we haven’t told you is that we want YOU to get involved in the development of Nothing and our products. We want you to be at the very core of Nothing, not just cheering from the sidelines,” said the company.
Over 3,000 people have registered interest for close to $4m USD in just two hours. Thanks for the overwhelming support for @nothing. 🙏

Although Nothing hasn’t launched any of its products, we know that it will be releasing a pair of headphones and some other IoT devices. Also, Nothing recently acquired Andy Rubin’s Essential, typically a smartphone brand. So, Nothing might also have plans to come up with a smartphone in the future.
Nothing could grow real quick or may fail. It is just another start-up now. So investing should be at your own risk. Carl Pei also warned the same.
Me and the team will give this our best shot, but please keep in mind that most startups fail. Only invest what you can afford to lose.
