A day away!

Google Pixel October 19 Launch Event – What To Expect?

It’s been so long since Google had something this ambitious to showcase. The Google Pixel Fall Launch on October 19 is just a day away. Let’s talk about what to expect from the virtual event tomorrow.

Tensor chip

Google is bringing its own silicon to power its devices for the first time. It custom-designed a chip and named it Tensor. We could see it the upcoming Google phones and maybe other devices too. Tensor chip is expected to perform equivalent to Apple’s A14 Bionic and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888.

The Tensor chip is a 5nm processor co-developed with Samsung. The initial benchmark impressions are pretty good, and we have to see how the actual phone performs.

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro

The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be the significant launches to happen during the event. Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are Google’s most ambitious devices ever, with a colossal leap from its predecessor.

The difference between the two will be a better display, battery, and cameras. The Pixel 6 will have a 6.4-inch AMOLED with a 90Hz refresh rate display, while the Pixel 6 Pro comes with a more advanced LTPO AMOLED display of a variable 120Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 6 will have a 4,600mAh battery capacity, while the Pixel 6 Pro packs a 5,000mAh battery.

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and certified as IP68 water and dust resistant. Both the Pixel phones can charge up with a 30W wired fast-charger. Pixel 6 can be charged wirelessly up to 21W and Pixel 6 Pro up to 23W using a Pixel Stand.

Several reports claim that the Pixel 6 base model starts at €649 and the Pixel 6 Pro starts at €899. Google never officially revealed the prices, so we have to wait till it does.

Google Pixel Stand

The new Pixel Stand features two Qi charging coils – one for smartphones and the other for wearables. The Pixel Stand will provide 21W to a Pixel 6 and 23W to a Pixel 6 Pro, or up to 15W to standard Qi-supported devices. It has a built-in cooling fan. The expected price is $79.

Google Pixel Fold?

Back in July this year, the news made headlines that Google Pixel Fold is in the works and may launch later this year. Yes, the information meant that we could possibly see Pixel Fold by the end of 2021. I assume Pixel Fold is not going to show up in the upcoming Google Pixel Launch event. Because there are no recent significant updates regarding the device and Google never officially talked about it. And I think Pixel Fold will come in no near time. However, everything is an assumption and a rumor; we can’t really know until Google shows up with an official note.
