Google is mainly known for all the things found on the internet. It had plans also to capture the gaming world with Google Stadia. As cloud gaming was getting more famous, Google has other plans to capture the gaming world. I am not sure whether stopping Google stadia was one of the plans. But as the Epic Games lawsuit is going on against Google and Apple, a document was found.
This plan was a tentative five-year in which Google will present a single platform to developers. In this platform, they can target different gamers across different screens, including Windows and Mac. Apple, in all these years, has been an afterthought in the gaming industry. Google’s plan wasn’t limited to the Windows or Mac devices but to any device with a screen with better viewability to play the game that includes smart displays. Now you may get a question how can you game on smart displays. Google had a plan for that too “a low cost universal portable controller”. This portable gaming controller can be connected to any TV or smart display.
To bring this plan into works, Google’s first move was to bring emulated, native, and streamed games. This move couldn’t go far as Windows had other plans with Windows 11. In Windows 11, Microsoft has included the support to Android applications with first support from the Amazon app store. But it seems Google’s plan is going off the tracks as it had plans to shut down Google Stadia back in October 2020.
This document was a 70 pages document that includes all the moves if Google. It would first bring all the best games in the mobile to the PC and offer them for a minimum price. This will then attract bigger games to the platform. You can also find many plans that weren’t redacted and might be coming soon. They even have the advantage of the Google Ecosystem. TheVerge, in a post, has published the pdf file of the secret plan of Google to become the world’s largest games platform.
