The EU Law has definitely changed the course of how you need to charge your devices. The recently passed law by the EU made it mandatory for most of its electronics to adapt to the type-c port. Following its steps, India is also planning to implement a law where most electronic devices will have Type-C ports.
The Government of India and a few other officials had a meeting recently on how to control e-waste. And in this discussion, they found one good step would be passing a law similar to the EU where all electronic devices will be using the type-c port. This will limit the production of the e-waste as most users already have a type-c cable and one cable can be used for all the devices.
Another thing to note is that unlike the EU law this will a phased manner roll out. That means it will not force all manufacturers to follow the law initially but gradually. The changes will be monitored closely by the Ministry of Environment Forrest and Climate Change (MoEFCC). This will ease the pressure on companies like Apple to make a type-c port iPhone. For Android, it will not cause any impact as most of them are already using the type-c port apart from the low-budget phones.
There is no word on by which year this law would be applicable but sure it is to bring some change that will be noticeable for Apple lovers most. Now that being said what do you think about this law and do you think Apple will be making one?
