It is getting quite regular for the Indian government to identify the Chinese applications and banning them over time. This is the fifth time that India has taken this move. It seems to happen that every time the Indian government announces apps that are banned it does have at least one famous app. This time the list has one of the popular battle royale game alternative to PUBG: Mobile, Garena Free Fire: Illuminate.
This bans comes under the Section 69A of the Information Technology Act 2000. according to the ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) these apps have been collecting data and sending it to China. This will be causing privacy breach to the citizens of India. These apps have been collecting the data and transmitting it to servers located in a hostile country.
The 54 Chinese apps include Beauty Camera: Sweet Selfie HD, Beauty Camera – Selfie Camera, Equalizer & Bass Booster, CamCard for SalesForce Ent, Isoland 2: Ashes of Time Lite, Viva Video Editor, Tencent Xriver, Onmyoji Chess, Onmyoji Arena, AppLock, Dual Space Lite.
