Instagram’s application Threads will be discontinued by the end of December. The Threads app was launched in the year 2019. This app was a replacement for its previous messaging app Direct. Threads is a messaging app that solely focuses on pictures rather than messages, just like Snapchat. Instagram has confirmed that it will be shutting down Threads, but the end of this year to TechCrunch.
The app hasn’t got much recognization, and that is the main reason to discontinue it. The app used to be horrible when it was first launched until the redesign in 2020. After the redesign, Threads was user-friendly to use, but that too became of no use. The new user interface made it easier to switch between stories and messages.
Threads app is not even close to being in the top Photo & Video category. The rating with the smaller audience is also not that great. It has a rating of 3.1 in the PlayStore, with over 2,500 user comments complaining about how disastrous the app is. The decision to stop the application would be an excellent idea for the Meta-owned Instagram and use the resources in other places.
Reverse engineering done by Alessandro Paluzzi first found this. He has shared the screenshot of the message that mentions that the Threads app will no longer be available from December 2021. This isn’t yet officially confirmed by Instagram. TechCrunch did the news confirmation, and Instagram mentioned that this is the reason they have started to include many features from Threads to Instagram. Some of the most loved features of the Threads app are automatic captions and Status that have been and will be implemented on Instagram.
