“Meta” will now replace the name of Facebook

Facebook is now not the head of all social apps!!

A week ago, we learned that Facebook is thinking of rebranding itself with a new name. We have got an official statement from Mark Zuckerburg that Facebook is now rebranded as “Meta.” This name does appear strange for a social media application, but there is a meaning for that. This name suggests their direction towards the future. This is the move that will replace the place of Facebook rather than renaming it.

It seems a little confusing, but it is straightforward. The thing is that Facebook used to be the head of all the sub-brands. From today they all, including Facebook, will be coming under Meta. So from now on, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus are under the products of Meta. This new change comes because Mark wants to represent the direction the company is planning in the future. According to Mark, the future is not the 2D social media but the Metaverse, where almost everything will be in Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality.

The blog about the new rebranding or replacing the name from Facebook to Meta says the corporate structure will not change.

Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. When Facebook launched in 2004, it changed the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world. Now, Meta is moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to help build the next evolution in social technology.

Mark Zuckerburg later adds that today’s announcement will not affect how they use or share data. What do you think of the new name?
