Netflix is launching a new Mobile+ plan at Rs. 299 for Indian users that allows them to stream at 1080p on any device except TV. The company had launched Mobile Plan for Rs. 199 just a couple of years ago. That plan allows only one user to stream at 480p and supports only mobile devices. But this new Netflix Mobile+ Plan will support all the devices except TV, and one can stream at 1080p with the screen limit capped at one. So that’s the difference; here is the comparison provided by Netflix.
However, you can now unlock 1080p streaming just with Rs. 299 plan, but unfortunately, you cannot watch on TV. You just have to go for the 649 plan if you watch most of the movies or TV shows on your smart TV.
A Netflix India spokesperson has officially confirmed that they’re testing the Mobile+ plan. He also added that this plan’s long-term availability would depend on the response that it gets from the users.
In a statement to Gadgets 360, Netflix said: “We launched the Mobile plan in India to make it easier for anyone with a smartphone to enjoy Netflix. We want to see if members like the added choice Mobile+ brings. We’ll only roll it out long-term if they do.”
The company is testing this new plan for new users, and the existing users cannot switch to this plan yet. The Mobile+ plan is already live on Netflix, and users can now signup with that plan.
Netflix’s previously launched Mobile plan helped the company acquiring a large userbase in India. But many users still requesting Full-HD streaming with an affordable plan. And here comes the Mobile+ that unlocks high-resolution video streaming at an affordable price.
