Netflix announced a deal with The Oatmeal, the Exploding Kittens card game publisher, to launch a video game and animated TV series. The streaming giant will release a mobile game and a TV series from the same franchise. Netflix will release Exploding Kittens – The Game on its platform in May 2022, and the adult animated comedy series will premiere in 2023.
The animated series, which will be titled Exploding Kittens, is set to cast Tom Ellis, Abraham Lim, Lucy Liu, Ally Maki, Mark Proksch, and Sasheer Zamata.
Shane Kosakowski and Matthew Inman will act as Producers of Exploding Kittens series. The executive producers include Mike Judge, Greg Daniels, Dustin Davis, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Elan Lee.
“The eternal conflict between Heaven and Hell reaches epic proportions when both God and the Devil are sent to Earth – in the bodies of chunky house cats,” the official description reads.
The game will feel very similar will be very similar to the card game but with two new exclusive cards, Radar and Flip Flop. Radar will reveal the position of the next Exploding Kitten in the deck, and Flip Flop will reverse the order of the cards that are drawn.
Furthermore, the game will feature single and multiplayer modes and be available to all Netflix members “without additional fees or in-app purchases.”
