Jonathan Majors, known for his role as Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and for his recent appearance in Creed 3, was arrested in New York on Saturday morning on charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment related to a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old female. The victim reported being assaulted, and Majors was taken into custody without incident. According to a statement from a spokesperson for the New York Police Department’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information to IGN, the victim suffered minor injuries to her head and neck and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Majors’ criminal defense lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, released a statement to IGN asserting that Majors is innocent and the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. Chaudhry claims to be gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney in the hopes that all charges will be dropped soon. The evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where the incident occurred, witness testimony, and two written statements from the woman recanting her allegations. According to the statement, the evidence proves that Majors is innocent and did not assault her in any way. The incident apparently arose due to the woman’s emotional crisis, for which she was hospitalized.

Majors’ representatives also issued a statement to IGN asserting that Majors has done nothing wrong and expressing their hope that his name will be cleared. Currently, the nature of Majors’ relationship with the woman is unknown.

Following news that the NYPD arrested Jonathan Majors, the U.S. Army announced that it would be pulling its Be All You Can Be ad campaign featuring the actor. In a statement, the Army Enterprise Marketing Office explained that while Majors is innocent until proven guilty, the prudent course of action is to pull the ads until the investigation into the allegations is complete.
