Samsung has a new feature which helps Gadget users to find their gear when it goes missing. This app is known as the SmartThings Find is used to find/locate not only your phone but also your Galaxy tablet, Galaxy Watch, and buds of Samsung. This feature was previously available as a trail in regions of the UK, the US, and South Korea. But now Samsung thinks this feature is ready to be launched globally.

This app uses Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE) and ultra-wideband(UWB) to locate the device running on Android 8 or above. The SmartThings Find app will be able to locate even when the device is offline. The app will show the location of the device on the map and we can even trigger a ring when we get near the device. Instead of ring Samsung also introduced a new AR-based search nearby function. This function displays color graphics which increases the intensity as we reach nearer to the device.

“We are excited to also be working closely with leading companies in the item-finding space to both expand this experience and enable you to find more of the belongings you care about most,” said Jaeyeon Jung (Corporate VC Samsung Electronics)

The service will be available globally from this week in all Galaxy devices having Android 8.0 or above. After the update, you can find the SmartThings Find feature in the banner below of the home screen in the SmartThings App. Starting from early next year Samsung plans to expand the SmartThings Find feature to tracking tags.
