Spotify had a great reputation for continuous trails of UX enhancement. They do experiments regularly and keep on testing new features that enhance user experience. Here’s yet another; According to Engadget’s report, the Spotify Stories feature has suddenly appeared on some selected playlists.
Spotify made some big artists test its new Stories feature. And they look exactly like Instagram stories but without stickers or clickable objects. The artists include Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Clarkson, and Pentatonix. The feature was first seen on a seasonal playlist called ‘Chrismas Hits’ and users had some mixed reactions. Spotify is kind of like a music streaming platform with social network features. They removed most of those social-network-like features in recent times. But this unexpected feature arrival has given users some mixed opinions.

Stories have changed the entire social network platform. They hit up and became a new trend. Also, users are likely sharing stuff temporarily and that’s engaging. Fine, but why does Spotify need that? No specific answer but, it helps artists to share directly on their Spotify profile where users can see their stuff while listening to their music; Instead of switching to Instagram to get updates from their favorite musician. Well, playlist curators can also share the updates with their followers. However, Spotify is just testing the feature and its actual existence is yet to confirm.
According to Engadget’s report, Spotify confirmed that this is a test and no words on if or when we can see stories on more profiles or whether users will be able to add them to their own playlists.
“At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience, Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time.”
– A Spotify spokesperson said in a statement.
